Runner flap / Swirl Flap / Port Flap / Tumble Flap Delete / Disable

Runner flaps are intended to create swirl/tumble in the incoming intake air to aid in fuel atomisation within the combustion chamber, and as a result increase combustion efficiency and fuel consumption.

However their position and, in most cases, their composition puts them at risk of failure. Failure of the intake flaps can result in catastrophic motor failure should the flap become dislodged and enter the motor.

When faced with this risk, it is always advised to remove the flap system on cars that are either high-powered, or aging (or both :)).
